Fifty years of marriage, told in one song

Fifty years of marriage are hard to wrap. Somewhere in there is the first meeting, perhaps still preserved on a black-and-white photograph. The first flat with the borrowed sofa. The lean years when money was short and neither of them gave up. Children moving out, grandchildren arriving. Anyone shopping for this occasion soon notices that flowers and vouchers fall short of the distance travelled. A song can carry it. It takes the moments you give us and turns them into two to five minutes of music, depending on the package, in which the two of them recognise their own life. At the party, the room goes quiet the moment the first name is sung. Grandma reaches for Grandad's hand, someone films it on their phone, and afterwards the whole table wants to know where the song came from.

You provide the material. The questionnaire takes about ten minutes and asks about the two of them: how they met, what they got through together, which phrase the whole family would recognise at once. Many families pool their memories first. The siblings drop stories into the family group chat, the grandchildren add the anecdote from last Christmas, and one person fills everything in. From that material, Sven Pflüger, a musician based in Freiburg, writes the lyrics, every line for this one couple only, followed by a modern production in the style you choose. Among the generation now celebrating golden weddings, Schlager and quiet ballads are the most popular choices. Nothing is fixed, though: what counts is what the two of them actually listen to. If Sunday mornings at their house sound more like classical radio, say so in the questionnaire.

Depending on the package, the song is ready in 24 to 72 hours, delivered as a download with its own song page you can share by link. You hear it first and decide how the couple receives it: over the speakers at the party, with coffee on the anniversary itself, or as a link on the morning of the celebration. If a line does not sit right, it can be adjusted: one lyric revision is included with the Lieblingslied, three with the Meisterstück.
